Artes de la Rosa Cultural Center for the Arts is searching for qualified technical theatre artists to fill the listed technical positions in costuming, properties, scenic construction and stage management for BIG FISH: 12 Chairs.
Contracts for
technical positions vary based on commitment and experience and range from $500
to $1200. Although the technical crews are asked to do a tremendous amount of
work, Artes de la Rosa attempts to create an environment that is both nurturing
and fun while creating a spirit of trust, collaboration, and mutual respect.

To serve
Assistant Stage Manager for Big Fish: 12
Chairs Version. Will assist the Stage Manager in the running and
organization of daily rehearsals; will assist in the scheduling and posting
rehearsal and production calls and any other stage management duties that are
deemed necessary and appropriate; responsible for backstage organization during
the productions; and will attend all schedule rehearsals, paper techs, dry
techs, and technical rehearsals.
To serve as one of costume designers
for Big Fish: 12 Chairs Version. The
ideal candidate will have experience (either educational or professional),
outstanding collaboration and communication skills, and a pleasant work ethic. Applicants
must display leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and posses
the ability to troubleshoot complex problems. The ideal candidate must
demonstrate experience working within a wide range of budgets and staffing
resources. A degree in theatre is a plus; however, comparable experience will
be considered. The candidate must be a team player and have a positive and
professional attitude. The obligations of the Designer include attendance of
Production Meetings & 1st Rehearsal, supplying the Theatre with
conceptual drawings and ideas by equally agreed upon dates; supplying the
Theatre with a fully-executed costume design, including colored renderings,
costume list, labeled swatch cards, and costume plot (if needed), by equally
agreed upon dates. The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience working
within a wide range of budgets and staffing resources.
Lighting Designer
To serve as the designer &
master electrician for either productions of Big Fish: 12 Chairs Version or Welcome
to Arroyo’s. We are seeking artists who possess imagination, flexibility
and the desire to work in a creatively charged and artistically demanding, yet
nurturing environment. Applicants must be prepared to work within a strong
creative team, and to work quickly towards the end goal, while still giving
focus to the artistic process. The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience
working within a wide range of budgets and staffing resources.
Technical Director
Under the guidance of the
Artistic Director, will be responsible for managing the Scenic operations of
the productions. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and
the ability to work on large-scale shows in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
include but are not limited to: Consult with the Artistic Director (and Scenic
Designer) on the technical and budgetary feasibility of designs. Collaborate
with artistic director and Scenic Designer to realize the production design
within budget and on time. Manage all aspects in the planning, build, load-in,
tech, and maintenance of scenery. Supervise the installation and strike of each
set including any rigging and mechanical devices. Insure proper function,
installation and safety of all scenic elements. Create time and material
estimates, schedules and other documentation as required. Coordinate build
schedule and load-in with theatre administration. Maintain the high quality and
standards of Artes de la Rosa. Ensure a safe and workable environment for staff
and performers.
Properties Artisan & Carpenter
Will work closely with the
director of one of the four theatre productions, working within the parameters
of the budget and production schedule; will organize and maintain the
properties budget, build and deadline schedule; responsible for the
construction of all scenic and hand properties; will assist in the acquisition
of all properties for the production and crew.
